Prescription: | Probability; random variables and their distribution, statistics. | |
Description: | Topics will be chosen from: revision of basic probability theory; introduction to random variables, distributions and expectation; joint distributions, correlation and distributions of linear combinations of random variables; introduction to estimation and hypothesis testing, mainly with respect to sampling from a normal population; nonparametric methods; one-way analysis of variance; linear regression; goodness of fit tests and contingency tables. | |
